Unforgettable Moments: Inside the Come Alive Women's Retreat at First Congregational Church of Winter Park

This January, the First Congregational Church of Winter Park hosted the Come Alive Women's Retreat! Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills, 32 incredible women gathered for a weekend filled with laughter, connection, and personal discovery.

From the very beginning, it was clear that this retreat was much more than just a getaway; it was a celebration of community and growth. Every moment was a chance to learn, share, and create unforgettable memories with each other.

The Thrill of Birding: Discovering Florida’s Avian Treasures

One of the standout moments of the retreat was the morning birding session. Guided by a passionate expert, attendees ventured outside to learn about Florida's rich variety of birds. This hands-on experience promoted mindfulness and a deeper appreciation for the beauty surrounding us.

Sustainable Planting Techniques: Nurturing Our Sunshine State

In tune with the themes of growth and renewal, the retreat also focused on sustainable planting techniques tailored for Florida's unique ecosystem.

Participants took part in engaging workshop covering essential topics such as the advantages of native plants. This session highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship while empowering everyone to make a positive impact on our communities. Participants learned not just how to garden but how to nurture a vital connection with nature.

The Sweet Art of S'mores: A Delicious Craft

No retreat would be complete without a touch of sweetness. One of the absolute highlights was our s’mores-making session around a cozy fire. These little moments of indulgence served as a gentle reminder to appreciate the simple pleasures and to pause in our busy lives to savor sweetness.

Sharing Our Stories: Heartfelt Connections

During the retreat we explored the question, "What’s your story, morning glory?"

The warmth surrounding these discussions highlighted the reality that our journeys—filled with both struggles and triumphs—are what unify our community. Each story served as a thread, weaving our experiences into a rich tapestry of communal life.

Building Community: The Takeaway

As the weekend came to a close, it was clear that we left with full hearts, renewed spirits, and a stronger sense of community.

The Come Alive Women's Retreat created an environment where laughter, learning, and friendship flourished. We returned home with not only fond memories but also a fresh sense of purpose and appreciation for the connections we made.

A special thank you goes out to all who joined and to the organizing committee. Their tireless efforts played a pivotal role in making this retreat truly inspiring.
